Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that the Wellbeing Programs have become guaranteed rights for millions of Mexicans and will directly benefit 42,860,296 people in 2026 through a social investment exceeding one trillion pesos.
During her morning press conference, the president stated that these initiatives represent a public policy focused on supporting the most vulnerable sectors of the population and improving living conditions across the country. She also emphasized that social programs strengthen access to fundamental rights for older adults, women, people with disabilities, students, and young people.
Carlos Torres Rosas, General Coordinator of Wellbeing Programs, reported that of the budget allocated for this year, 490.253 billion pesos had already been disbursed as of May 31. Meanwhile, Welfare Secretary Leticia Ramírez Amaya noted that 18,826,240 people currently receive assistance through the various pensions and social programs administered by the Government of Mexico.
Among the main support schemes are the Pension for the Wellbeing of Older Adults, the Women’s Wellbeing Pension, the Pension for People with Disabilities, the Support Program for Working Mothers, and Sembrando Vida. Authorities also announced that beneficiaries who recently completed registration will receive their program cards between June 15 and June 21.
Federal officials further reported progress in other strategic initiatives, including Youth Building the Future, which has served 3.5 million young people since 2019; The School Is Ours, benefiting more than 73,000 schools and 8.9 million students; and The Clinic Is Ours, through which 635 ISSSTE medical units will be strengthened to serve more than 13 million beneficiaries nationwide.
