President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that the supply of medicines in public health institutions exceeds 97 percent, and emphasized that efforts are ongoing to reach 100 percent availability of medical supplies.
During the “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo” press conference, the president explained that this progress has been made possible thanks to the new public procurement system for medicines, although she acknowledged that there are still cases in which suppliers have failed to deliver or where certain medications are not available in specific facilities.
She also noted that beneficiaries of IMSS, IMSS-Bienestar, and ISSSTE can report shortages of medicines through the Trato Digno service modules, by calling the number 079, or through the platform recetacompleta.gob.mx, in order to ensure timely care.
Meanwhile, Health Secretary David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz detailed that the modernization of the procurement system has made it possible to optimize the catalog of medicines from 2,753 to 1,929, prioritizing more efficient and safer options for medical treatments.
At the same time, health authorities reported progress in the supply and distribution of medicines, as well as in the vaccination strategy against measles, which has administered 17.2 million doses, contributing to the reduction in the transmission of this disease in the country.
