The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Tourism and the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), presented the racing series “Unstoppable Mexico”, an initiative that seeks to merge sports with the country’s cultural identity. The project includes four events to be held in Palenque, Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Chihuahua, aimed at promoting the inclusion of Indigenous athletes, strengthening sports tourism, and generating economic and social benefits for local communities.
During the morning press conference “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo”, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that this series embodies the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples. “This name, Unstoppable Mexico, is very symbolic. It represents, of course, the Rarámuri people: unstoppable, resilient; it represents Indigenous peoples, and it represents Mexico, because Mexico is unstoppable,” she stated.
Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that this project positions the country as a sports and cultural destination while boosting hotel occupancy and economic spillover in the host states. She recalled that one out of every ten international tourists visiting Mexico is motivated by sports activities, reinforcing the importance of initiatives like this.
Conade Director Rommel Pacheco Marrufo explained that the races will be inspired by the four elements and Indigenous cultures: “Roots of Water” in Palenque, Chiapas, on September 14 (Maya culture); “Roots of Fire” in Mexico City, on December 7 (Mexica culture); “Roots of Earth” in Oaxaca, on March 22, 2026 (Zapotec and Mixtec cultures); and “Roots of Air” in Chihuahua, on June 7, 2026 (Rarámuri culture).
Athlete and project leader Mirna Beatriz de la Cruz Álvarez explained that proceeds from registrations and sponsorships will go to sports scholarships, free cultural events, and support in health, education, and infrastructure. Meanwhile, Rarámuri ultramarathon runner Lorena Ramírez invited runners from across the country to register at the official website mexicoimparable.com, stressing that the initiative promotes a triple positive impact: economic, social, and cultural.
