President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo signed an agreement with the Mexican Banking Association and the Association of Voucher Companies to reduce transaction fees on payments for gasoline and diesel made with cards and vouchers. The measure will be in effect from May 1 to October 31, 2026, with the aim of benefiting the finances of Mexican families.

During the “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo” press conference, the president stated that this action seeks to prevent increases in fuel prices and even create conditions for their reduction by lowering the costs of electronic transactions.

According to the announcement, the fee for debit card payments will be reduced by 0.45 percent per transaction, credit card payments by 1 percent, and voucher payments by 1.10 pesos, allowing service stations to lower operating costs that could be reflected in the final price to consumers.

Secretary of Finance and Public Credit Édgar Amador Zamora explained that this measure is part of a comprehensive scheme that includes discounts on banking fees, a reduction in the use of vouchers, and regulatory actions with the National Banking and Securities Commission and the Bank of Mexico to ensure its implementation.

The president highlighted that this agreement is the result of joint work between the government, the banking sector, and private industry, and noted that dialogue with fuel distributors will continue to further reduce diesel costs, reaffirming the commitment to protect the population’s economy.
