President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the delivery of 240 homes in San José Chiapa, Puebla, as part of the Vivienda para el Bienestar program, along with the cancellation of 577 unpayable Fovissste loans, in an effort aimed at guaranteeing access to housing as a fundamental right.
These actions are part of the national goal of building 1.8 million homes and restructuring 5 million unpayable loans, through a scheme that includes reduced requirements, debt forgiveness, and the implementation of zero-interest loans for individuals not affiliated with institutions such as Fovissste or Infonavit.
During the event, the president emphasized that access to rights such as education, healthcare, housing, and decent employment are pillars of social policy, underscoring that these measures aim to improve the living conditions of Mexican families.
Federal authorities reported that in Puebla, the housing construction target has increased to 74,000 homes, with an investment exceeding 44 billion pesos, while the National Housing Commission plans to build 1,160 houses in San José Chiapa, of which the first 240 have already been delivered.
It was also highlighted that so far in 2026, a total of 1,292 homes have been delivered across 15 states, consolidating the progress of the program, which seeks to expand access to adequate housing and strengthen the well-being of the population.
