From Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated the IMSS General Specialty Hospital No. 13 “14 de septiembre,” built with an investment of 2.929 billion pesos and set to benefit more than one million beneficiaries. During the event, she invited the people of Mexico to gather on December 6 in Mexico City’s Zócalo to commemorate seven years of the Fourth Transformation.
The president affirmed that her administration’s goal is to guarantee universal access to healthcare and that this constitutional right will be fully upheld. She announced that beginning January 2026, the credentialing process for the National Public Health System will begin, aiming to unify services provided by IMSS, IMSS Bienestar, and ISSSTE through a single medical record for all Mexicans.
Sheinbaum also reported that Chiapas has begun the bidding process for two Economic Development Hubs for Well-being (PODECOBI) in Tapachula and a third in Arriaga, which will boost Shared Prosperity in the southeastern region. She reiterated that her administration seeks not only economic growth but also justice and social well-being as pillars of the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation.
During the ceremony, Health Secretary David Kershenobich highlighted that this hospital marks the transition from commitments to concrete action, ensuring free, high-quality specialized medical care. Zoé Robledo, Director General of IMSS, noted that the facility has 261 beds, six operating rooms, 43 medical specialties, and a medical team of 1,961 professionals, who have already provided more than 18,000 consultations and performed nearly 100 surgeries in just 63 days.
Chiapas Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar thanked the federal government for the construction of the hospital, stating that it reflects the spirit of Buen Vivir and the humanist vision of President Sheinbaum. He emphasized that this infrastructure is made possible by the contributions of IMSS beneficiaries and represents a firm step toward greater well-being, health, and social justice for Chiapas.
