President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced the launch of the “México Canta for Peace and Against Addictions” tour, a binational initiative that will take place from November 8 to December 20, 2025, in Mexico and the United States. The project aims to promote new Mexican music with positive messages, free from the glorification of violence and drug use, while strengthening cultural spaces for youth engagement and peaceful coexistence.

During her morning press conference, “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo,” the president emphasized that the tour will feature large-scale concerts as well as performances in schools and youth centers. “We are not banning lyrics, but we believe that promoting those that normalize violence creates the wrong narrative. Our goal is to encourage music with new messages — music that inspires young people to build peace and hope,” said Sheinbaum Pardo.

Claudia Curiel de Icaza, Secretary of Culture, explained that the tour will be organized in collaboration with the collective Legado de Grandeza, with scheduled performances in Los Angeles, California (November 8); Las Vegas, Nevada (November 13); Miami, Florida (November 14–15); Tijuana, Baja California (November 21–22); and Mexico City (December 20) during the Verbena Navideña. She also announced that in 2026 the tour will expand to new cities to continue spreading musical narratives for peace.

Curiel de Icaza reported that during the Grand Finale of the México Canta competition, votes were received from 39 countries to select the winners: Sergio Maya as Best Performer, Carmen María as Best Composer, and Galia Siurob with the Specialists’ Award. A vinyl record featuring the finalists’ performances will be produced and released on digital platforms.

The secretary also highlighted the participation of more than 25 public media outlets in broadcasting the event, reaching an audience of 11 million people. With this cultural initiative, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to artistic creation, addiction prevention, and inspiring youth through music as a tool for social transformation.
