President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted the historic tourism results achieved by the country during the first quarter of 2026, reporting the arrival of 26.2 million international visitors, a figure that represents a 10.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
During the morning press conference, the president stated that Mexico maintains a strong international reputation thanks to its people and the country’s current political climate. She also reiterated that one of the objectives of Plan México is to position the nation as the fifth most visited country in the world.
Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that between January and March 2026, the country generated $10.287 billion dollars in international tourism revenue, while receiving 12.66 million international tourists and 3.63 million cruise passengers.
The official detailed that March alone set four historic records: 9.37 million international visitors, 4.49 million international tourists, 1.30 million cruise passengers, and $113.82 million dollars in spending by cruise travelers.
She also highlighted growth in the arrival of tourists from various countries, as well as increases in passengers transported by air and aboard the Maya Train. Rodríguez Zamora further emphasized the results achieved during the Acapulco Tourism Tianguis and the strategies promoted to strengthen Mexico’s presence in China’s tourism market.
