President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that, thanks to the National Security Strategy, Mexico achieved a 37% reduction in intentional homicides between September 2024 and November 2025, falling from 86.9 to 54.7 killings per day. This makes November 2025 the month with the lowest incidence since 2015.

During the “Las mañaneras del pueblo” press conference, Sheinbaum underscored that the decline represents 32 fewer homicides per day. She also highlighted the impact of the National Anti-Extortion Strategy and announced a meeting with state governors to push for the General Law on Extortion to be implemented across all states.

Marcela Figueroa Franco, head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, reported a sustained decrease in this crime since 2018. She detailed that in 2025, seven states accounted for 51% of homicides, yet 26 states managed to lower their daily averages, notably Guanajuato, Baja California, the State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Tabasco, and Sinaloa.

Security and Citizen Protection Secretary Omar García Harfuch said that from October 1, 2024, to November 30, 2025, authorities arrested 38,773 people for high-impact crimes, seized more than 20,000 firearms and 311 tons of drugs, and dismantled 1,760 clandestine laboratories. In Michoacán, 17 laboratories were shut down with state support.

Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez highlighted that over the past year, more than 3 million people were reached through social prevention actions such as Peace Fairs and Peacebuilding Days, Community Committees, recovery of public spaces, voluntary gun-exchange campaigns, and Tianguis del Bienestar events benefiting thousands of families in Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Michoacán.
