During her national accountability tour, President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirmed that in the country taxes are no longer subject to negotiation and that the people are the ones who rule, fundamental principles of the Fourth Transformation of public life.

From Baja California Sur, the president announced the construction of two solar plants by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), which will be the most modern in Latin America and will strengthen the state’s energy capacity. She also reported the opening of 500 new teaching positions, along with investments in educational infrastructure, including the expansion of a high school in Los Cabos, the conversion of an existing campus, and the construction of a new campus of the Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos.

Sheinbaum proposed renaming the Fonatur Roundabout in Los Cabos as the “Roundabout of Free Women of Baja California Sur,” where an underpass is currently under construction. She also announced strategic waterworks: the construction of the El Novillo Dam, a water treatment plant, an aqueduct, and the rehabilitation of treatment systems in La Paz, San José del Cabo, and Loreto, in addition to support for the Desaladora II project in Los Cabos and 95 additional actions to ensure water supply across all municipalities.

In the areas of infrastructure and social welfare, she announced the federal highway resurfacing program, including the Transpeninsular Highway; the construction of a LIBRE Center for women in each municipality; the inauguration of the Santa Rosalía General Hospital in Mulegé; the continuation of the IMSS Regional General Hospital in Los Cabos; and the construction of 55,000 homes through the Vivienda para el Bienestar program. Added to this are the delivery of 50,000 property titles and the reduction of unpayable housing loans from Infonavit and Fovissste, benefiting nearly 50,000 people.

The president reported that in Baja California Sur there are 179,966 beneficiaries of the Social Welfare Programs, with an investment of 6.766 billion pesos in 2025. Among them are recipients of the universal pension for older adults, support for persons with disabilities, educational scholarships, productive programs, and new initiatives such as the Pensión Mujeres Bienestar, the Rita Cetina scholarship, and the Salud Casa por Casa program.

Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío thanked the president for the investment in health, education, infrastructure, and social programs, and described the announcement of 500 new teaching positions in the state as historic.
