President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the launch of the Health Routes, a new distribution mechanism that in its first stage will deliver 15 million pieces of 147 types of medicines and medical supplies to 8,061 IMSS Bienestar units across 23 federalized states.

During the “People’s Morning Conference,” the president affirmed that this model will guarantee a constant and timely supply of medicines. “Starting today, this new distribution process takes effect. From now until the weekend, deliveries will reach health centers, and next week they will begin in hospitals. Oncology centers already received their delivery last week. We are advancing and improving this great IMSS Bienestar health system,” she stressed.

IMSS Bienestar Director General Alejandro Svarch Pérez detailed that between August 19 and 23, 1,006 logistic routes will be activated to deliver the first 10,497 supply packages, with support from Birmex. Later, the scheme will expand to hospitals. He specified that the process began in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Mexico City, Colima, Chiapas, Guerrero, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, and Zacatecas.

In parallel, Svarch reported on the Laboratory in Your Clinic program, which operates in 576 units in the State of Mexico and has processed nearly half a million laboratory tests. This month, Mexico City, Tlaxcala, Quintana Roo, and Baja California Sur will be added, reaching 250 sampling units and more than 60 central laboratories. The goal is to expand this service to all states with IMSS Bienestar before the end of 2025.

IMSS Director Zoé Robledo Aburto and ISSSTE head Martí Batres Guadarrama presented progress in the national health strategy: more than 953,000 surgeries performed, 16.1 million specialty consultations, and 63.1 million family medicine appointments. They also highlighted projects such as the new Regional High Specialty Hospital in Oaxaca and the construction of medical units in Tamaulipas and Mexico City. Meanwhile, Health Secretary David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz urged the population to reduce consumption of sugary drinks due to their impact on chronic diseases, announcing new prevention campaigns aimed at children and youth.

With these actions, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to consolidating a free, universal, and efficient public health system that guarantees medical care and medicines for the entire population.
