President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the presentation of the Comprehensive Plan Against Sexual Abuse, a national strategy aimed at strengthening justice and support for women while promoting a cultural shift toward coexistence based on respect and equality between women and men.

During her morning press conference, “Las mañaneras del pueblo,” Sheinbaum highlighted that one of the central pillars of the plan is the standardization of sexual harassment and abuse as serious crimes throughout the country, in order to ensure effective sanctions and a faster institutional response to complaints. She also announced a national awareness campaign to be launched on November 25, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Citlalli Hernández Mora, Secretary for Women, affirmed that this plan reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to women’s safety and well-being. “You are not alone; there is a President who cares for you and a Secretariat that works every day to protect you,” she emphasized. She also called on men to help build a new social relationship based on respect and equality.

The Comprehensive Plan Against Sexual Abuse includes seven key actions: the standardization of sexual abuse as a serious criminal offense; a collaborative agenda with the legislative branch; promotion of complaint filing; strengthening of justice access and victim assistance; institutional training; awareness campaigns; and the presentation of the harmonization roadmap results on November 25. Additionally, public servants will receive training on prevention and response protocols for public spaces and transportation systems.

Through this strategy, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to eradicating sexual violence and building a State that guarantees justice, security, and equality. The implementation of the plan will help strengthen institutional frameworks and foster a society that upholds respect and dignity for women in all areas of public and private life.
