From July 25 to August 6, the Government of Mexico will hold its first online auction of the year, organized by the Institute to Return Stolen Goods to the People (INDEP). A total of 218 real estate properties and more than 145,000 movable assets—including vehicles, jewelry, machinery, homes, land, and financial assets—will be available. All proceeds will go toward strengthening health centers and hospitals in the country’s most underserved municipalities.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that the funds will be used exclusively for public health initiatives. “All the resources obtained through these confiscated property auctions are being directed to the municipalities that need them most,” she stated during her morning press conference. The total amount raised will be announced on August 7.
INDEP Director Mónica Fernández Balboa explained that the assets come from judicial proceedings, seizures, forfeitures, or abandonment, and that the program’s goal is to transform them into direct benefits for the population. To participate in the auction, individuals must register on the official website, provide basic documentation, and pay a deposit guarantee.
Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez reported on progress made by the Tianguis para el Bienestar (Well-being Market), a separate initiative that redistributes confiscated goods. In its recent edition across Guerrero and Oaxaca, over 1.463 million items were delivered to 35,797 families in 74 communities, with the participation of more than 850 public servants.
Upcoming editions of the Tianguis para el Bienestar will take place from August 4 to 6 in Ayutla de los Libres, and from August 7 to 8 in Tlapa de Comonfort, both located in the state of Guerrero. Through these programs, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to social justice by transforming recovered assets into direct benefits for the people.
