Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced that between 2025 and 2026 the state of Colima will receive a historic investment of more than 11 billion pesos for road infrastructure projects and hydraulic works aimed at strengthening the development of the state.
Of the total resources, 8.866 billion pesos will be allocated to the construction of highways, bridges, and roads, while nearly 2.7 billion pesos will be invested in water projects. This investment is in addition to the 6.052 billion pesos the state receives through the Welfare Programs.
The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, explained that the road projects will generate around 26,600 direct and indirect jobs and will also improve the Federal Toll-Free Highway Network through the MegaBachetón program, which includes work on 184 kilometers of roads.
Among the main projects are the Arco Norte and Arco Sur bypasses, as well as several bridges and road interchanges, including El Chical, Presa Las Trancas, Las Tunas, and the main entrance to Manzanillo, in addition to the modernization of the Armería–Manzanillo highway.
Regarding water infrastructure, the director of the National Water Commission (Conagua), Efraín Morales López, reported that the Agua para Colima program will be developed. The project includes a 21-kilometer aqueduct, a water treatment plant, pumping stations, and storage tanks, which will double the water supply for Colima and Villa de Álvarez, benefiting more than 238,000 residents.
