Before more than 600,000 people gathered in Mexico City’s Zócalo, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo marked seven years of the Fourth Transformation with a message highlighting the country’s economic, social, and moral progress. She stressed that the transformation is reflected not only in statistics, but also in the strengthening of the humanist model guiding her government. “Today, more than ever, Mexico moves forward with dignity, with justice, with unity, and with the invincible strength of its people,” she said.
The president detailed that the Fourth Transformation’s economic model enabled 13.5 million people to rise out of poverty between 2018 and 2024. She pointed to achievements such as the minimum wage increase to 315 pesos per day starting in January 2026, controlled inflation at 3.57 percent as of the end of October, record levels of foreign direct investment, and a historic reduction in unemployment. She also underscored that Mexico is now the second least unequal country in the continent thanks to the Programs for Well-being.
On labor issues, Sheinbaum highlighted major reforms including the elimination of outsourcing, the strengthening of free union voting, the creation of the Pension Fund for Well-being, and the initiative to reduce the workweek to 40 hours. She reaffirmed her government’s commitment to health, education, and housing, pointing to the expansion of free universities, the construction of new homes, and support for beneficiaries facing unpayable debts.
She also emphasized advances in security and human rights, noting a 34 percent reduction in intentional homicides since 2018, along with an active policy of respect for Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples. She said progress continues on the return of passenger trains, strategic water projects, and rural roads, while reaffirming energy sovereignty with Pemex and the CFE as people’s companies. She insisted democracy is now a consolidated reality through mechanisms such as recall referendums, without repression or censorship.
Finally, Sheinbaum stated that relations with the United States have been based on mutual respect and the defense of sovereignty. She rejected any attempt at foreign interference and affirmed that the transformation remains firm and committed to the people’s well-being. “I will never betray. Every second of life is devoted to building a Mexico that is just, free, independent, and sovereign,” she concluded.
