On Sunday, October 20, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led her sixth consecutive day of on-site supervision in areas affected by recent heavy rains, this time in the municipality of Pantepec, Puebla, where she oversaw cleaning efforts and direct assistance to affected families.
Through her official social media channels, the President shared:
“We visited the municipality of Pantepec, Puebla to supervise the cleanup work and deliver a message to those affected. We leave no one behind.”
This visit forms part of the Federal Government’s strategy to address the needs of disaster-impacted populations through proximity-based, coordinated actions.
Key Officials and Institutions Present
President Sheinbaum was accompanied by:
- Governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier
- Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes
- Director of IMSS Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch Pérez
- Presidential Coordinator for Intergovernmental Affairs, Leticia Ramírez Amaya
- Mayor of Pantepec, Araceli Gaspar Cruz
Members of the National Defense (SEDENA) and Navy (SEMAR) were also present, actively implementing Plan DN-III-E and Plan Marina in their recovery phases.
Recent Supervision Across States
The visit to Pantepec followed a weekend of field visits by the President in Veracruz (Poza Rica, Álamo, Tempoal), Hidalgo (Huehuetla, Tianguistengo), and Tamaulipas (Tampico), where she monitored the Pánuco River, currently under permanent observation though not posing any risk.
Federal Commitment to Recovery
With these inspection tours, the Government of Mexico reiterates its commitment to deliver comprehensive support to communities hit by natural disasters. The approach prioritizes cleaning efforts, reconstruction, and social welfare, under the principle of “no one left behind”, which has become a hallmark of Sheinbaum’s administration in times of emergency.
