President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that the civil works of the Mexico City–Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) passenger train will be completed this year, marking the beginning of testing operations. Simultaneously, construction of the section connecting AIFA to the city of Pachuca has reached a 9.3% progress rate.
During a site inspection of the railway project, the President emphasized that strategic infrastructure efforts remain active, even as military engineers also provide assistance in emergency situations. She praised the work of the Felipe Ángeles Engineering Corps, highlighting their planning, discipline, and execution as a source of national pride.
General Gustavo Ricardo Vallejo Suárez, commander of the engineering corps, reported that work is progressing across five active construction fronts, including box installations, material transport, excavation works, and rail placement, all proceeding without delays.
Andrés Lajous Loaeza, head of the Federal Railway Transport Regulatory Agency, explained that the new line will link Mexico City with Pachuca, benefitting nearly 15,000 families across the metropolitan region. The estimated travel time is 1 hour 15 minutes from Buenavista to Pachuca, 1 hour to Jagüey de Téllez, and 50 minutes to Tizayuca, with a projected demand of 107,000 passengers.
Delfina Gómez Álvarez, governor of the State of Mexico, emphasized that the project is not only a transportation solution but also a catalyst for economic development. It will connect directly with the Economic Development Poles for Wellbeing (PODECOBI) of the Mexico Plan, creating new job opportunities in the region.
