The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, reported that the “Housing for Wellbeing” program currently has 274,000 homes under construction nationwide, as part of a six-year target of 1.8 million housing units that will benefit around 7 million people.

During the morning press conference “Las mañaneras del pueblo,” the federal president emphasized that this program is aimed at families earning up to two minimum wages, noting that for the first time in Mexico’s history, a housing policy is being promoted focused on the lowest-income population.

Sheinbaum Pardo stressed that this scheme not only guarantees access to decent housing as a social right, but also boosts the national economy by generating jobs in the construction sector and driving urban development in different regions of the country.

The Minister of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, Edna Elena Vega Rangel, reported that 604,000 housing units are already contracted and ready to begin construction, in addition to progress in the delivery of loans, deeds, and home improvement support, benefiting millions of people across the country.

For their part, the Director General of CONAVI, Rodrigo Chávez Contreras, and the head of INFONAVIT, Octavio Romero Oropeza, detailed advances in construction, delivery, and credit restructuring, while FOVISSSTE and INSUS reported progress in new housing, titling, and social justice programs aimed at improving the credit conditions of workers.
