The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced the publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation of a decree establishing various administrative measures due to the opening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico City, scheduled for Thursday, June 11.

The objective of these provisions is to contribute to urban mobility, road safety, and the organization of the country’s capital during the day of the opening match, given the high concentration of national and foreign attendees.

Among the measures established, the federal public sector based in Mexico City will implement remote work and teleworking, using information technologies to carry out non-essential administrative activities.

Likewise, the suspension of classes is established at all educational levels, in both public and private schools in the capital, while the private and social sectors are urged to adopt teleworking schemes for non-essential administrative activities.

The Legal Counsel of the Federal Executive, Luisa María Alcalde Luján, clarified that these actions will apply only on the day of the 2026 World Cup opening, as part of a strategy aimed at improving mobility, safety, and accessibility in Mexico City.
