President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated, through a live connection from the National Palace to San José del Cabo, the Glorieta de las Mujeres Libres in Baja California Sur, a road infrastructure project that represented an investment of 700 million pesos and will benefit 351,000 residents in the region, as well as 2.6 million tourists each year.
According to federal authorities, this project will reduce travel times by up to 40 minutes by improving connectivity between San José del Cabo, the hotel zone, San José del Cabo International Airport, and the tourist corridor toward Cabo San Lucas. It also includes an 840-meter bidirectional bike lane, signalized pedestrian crossings, sidewalks, and reinforced pedestrian infrastructure.
During the morning conference, it was also highlighted that the construction was completed in one year and generated 2,100 jobs, strengthening mobility, road safety, and regional development in Baja California Sur.
In another announcement, the president introduced the “Chairs of the Mexican Diaspora” program, aimed at young Mexican researchers living abroad who maintain academic ties with the country. The initiative includes recognition within the National System of Researchers (SNII), as well as annual support of 45,000 pesos for academic mobility and research activities in Mexico.
The call for applications for this program will be published on June 5, and registration will take place from June 26 to July 24, as part of a strategy to strengthen scientific, technological, and academic cooperation between Mexico and its research community abroad.
