President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted advances in security, railway infrastructure, and support for the agricultural sector, noting that Mexico recorded a 5.1 percent improvement in 2025 in the Peace Index of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), considered the most significant improvement in at least a decade and the largest recorded in the history of this indicator in the country. The President stated that this result represents the sixth consecutive year of progress following a period of deterioration between 2015 and 2018.

In terms of infrastructure, Sheinbaum reported that her administration plans to build at least 2,377 kilometers of public railways, a figure she compared with the 65 kilometers granted under concession during the administration of Felipe Calderón and the 187 kilometers built during the term of Enrique Peña Nieto. She also noted that work is underway on land connectivity and public transportation to benefit communities near these projects.

During the presentation of railway progress, authorities detailed that 88,559 tons of rail have already been contracted, of which 55 percent have already been manufactured. Progress was also reported on different sections such as AIFA-Pachuca, Mexico City-Querétaro, Querétaro-Irapuato, and Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo, as well as the generation of thousands of direct jobs linked to railway construction projects in different regions of the country.

In the agro-food sector, the federal Executive signed the Agreement for the creation of the Production Planning and White Corn Commercialization System “Fair Price” in Mexico, aimed at strengthening food sovereignty and ensuring production stability. The scheme will benefit 61,000 producers across the country, cover 705,000 hectares, and involve a production of 7 million tons of white corn.

The new system introduces mechanisms for advance contract-based commercialization, the sale of inputs at fair prices, and protection against climate contingencies or fluctuations in international prices. It also includes the creation of a production chain registry and a platform to connect producers, suppliers, and industry, with the purpose of providing certainty in grain sales and strengthening the profitability of small and medium-sized producers.
