President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented the Gas Pipeline Plan for Mexico, a strategy that includes an investment of 140.905 billion pesos through 2030 to strengthen the country’s energy sovereignty through infrastructure projects, maintenance, and expansion of the national pipeline network.

During the morning press conference, the federal president stated that the central objective is to expand production and energy supply capacities in order to reduce dependence on foreign sources. Of the total announced amount, 101.259 billion pesos will be allocated to infrastructure and 39.646 billion pesos to the maintenance of the national gas pipeline network.

Energy Secretary Luz Elena González Escobar detailed that Mexico currently has 21,149 kilometers of gas pipelines, of which 10,087 kilometers are under the control of CENAGAS, 7,666 kilometers belong to the Federal Electricity Commission, and 3,396 kilometers correspond to Pemex and private companies.

Meanwhile, CFE Director General Emilia Esther Calleja Alor reported that four strategic gas pipelines are currently under construction, including Cuxtal II, Centauro del Norte, and the Guaymas–El Oro rerouting project, in addition to new projects planned for the central and southern regions of the country. She noted that these projects will supply 13 new CFE power plants and generate around 18,400 direct and indirect jobs.

At the same time, CENAGAS Director General Cuitláhuac García Jiménez explained that 87 billion pesos will be allocated to expand transportation capacity through new gas pipelines in Veracruz, Sonora, and Tamaulipas, as well as to carry out 41 modernization, rehabilitation, and operational maintenance projects for the national energy infrastructure.
