President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that during the first quarter of 2026, 422,000 additional jobs were created compared to the same period in 2025, reaching a total of 22.7 million positions registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute, a historic figure for the country.
During her participation in “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo,” the president emphasized that these results reflect a policy of wealth distribution, accompanied by social programs and an increase in the minimum wage, which rose from 123 pesos per day to 315.04 pesos in 2026, with a monthly income exceeding 9,400 pesos.
In labor matters, the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Marath Bolaños, noted that Mexico has an unemployment rate of 2.4 percent, the lowest among countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, in addition to reporting sustained growth in the services sector and a reduction in labor poverty.
In the health sector, the president announced that the 24th National Vaccination Week will be extended throughout the month of May, with the aim of strengthening prevention and guaranteeing access to this right. She underscored that the federal government continues to expand hospital infrastructure and train medical personnel as part of a comprehensive public health strategy.
Finally, Sheinbaum Pardo announced that an agreement was reached with fuel distributors to reduce the price of diesel to 27 pesos per liter starting next week, along with the signing of agreements with financial institutions to lower transaction fees on card payments, measures aimed at benefiting the economy of Mexican families.
