President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the inauguration of three vehicular bridges in Colima as part of the National Highway Infrastructure Program, and announced the acquisition of the Suburban Train, which will be operated by the Government of Mexico under the name “Felipe Ángeles” Train.

Through a remote address from the National Palace, the president reported that the works in Colima include nearly 2 kilometers of infrastructure: the Libramiento Arco Norte bridge —to be named Celsa Virgen Pérez—, the El Chical bridge, and the Presa Las Trancas bridge, with a combined investment exceeding 659 million pesos.

Infrastructure, Communications and Transport Secretary Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina detailed that the Celsa Virgen Pérez bridge is 590 meters long with six lanes, while El Chical measures 736 meters and Presa Las Trancas 600 meters, projects that will improve connectivity across different municipalities in the state.

In another announcement, the president revealed that the Suburban Train will be acquired by the federal government through the National Infrastructure Fund, with an investment of 5.999 billion pesos, as part of “Plan México” to strengthen passenger rail transport.

Sheinbaum Pardo explained that this system, which will connect Mexico City with AIFA and later with Pachuca, will be publicly operated, maintaining affordable fares and prioritizing safety and quality service for users.
