President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo officially presented and inaugurated the Farmacias del Bienestar (Well-being Pharmacies), a new medication-distribution strategy that will benefit older adults and people with disabilities served through the Salud Casa por Casa program. The first phase began at 500 locations across the State of Mexico, with nationwide implementation planned for March 2026.
During her morning press conference, “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo,” the president explained that these modules will allow prescriptions to be filled without beneficiaries having to wait in line inside health centers. Located in IMSS and IMSS-Bienestar units and in Tiendas del Bienestar, the Farmacias del Bienestar are designed to provide direct, accessible, and efficient service.
Welfare Secretary Ariadna Montiel Reyes reported that the Salud Casa por Casa program has carried out more than 8.8 million home medical visits as of December 1. Health workers will deliver prescriptions with a folio number and barcode so that medications can be dispensed smoothly at the assigned modules.
Eduardo Clark García Dobarganes, Deputy Secretary for Sectoral Integration, said this first stage will cover 22 types of medicines to treat chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, with a two-month supply for each patient. He noted that the program also includes bimonthly medical follow-ups.
During live connections to medical units in Naucalpan, Ecatepec, Valle de Chalco, and Atlacomulco, State of Mexico Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez highlighted the program’s impact on both health and household finances. At each launch site, local and federal authorities carried out the first medication deliveries, emphasizing equitable and free access as an act of social justice.
