As part of Plan México, the Federal Government announced a historic investment of $4.8 billion from CloudHQ for the construction of six data centers in Querétaro. This project will generate more than 7,200 jobs in the construction sector and 900 permanent highly skilled positions, consolidating Mexico as a strategic hub in the global digital infrastructure.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that this investment represents a key step in the development of national capacities linked to artificial intelligence and information technologies, by providing the country with high-level data processing infrastructure. “Starting with investments in data centers opens a new path of development for Mexico,” she stated during the morning press conference.
The centers will be built on a 52-hectare site and will have a total projected capacity of 900 megawatts, of which an initial supply of 200 MW has already been secured thanks to the support of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the National Energy Control Center (Cenace). The first phase of this ambitious project already has an initial investment of $250 million.
Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon stressed that this project positions Mexico as a key player in the new digital economy. He pointed out that joint efforts are underway with the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) to ensure that recent university graduates become part of this transformation, establishing a direct link between academia and the technological labor market.
CloudHQ Chief Operating Officer Keith Patrick Harney assured that the project will be an example of sustainability, incorporating water-free cooling systems and meeting LEED Gold and Silver standards, ensuring energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. He also highlighted the direct collaboration with the Government of Mexico and the commitment to generate benefits for local communities while strengthening national supply chains.
