As part of the Plan México, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced a comprehensive program to boost the production of high-quality meat for both domestic consumption and export, with an investment of nearly 700 million pesos. The project includes the delivery of bovine sires, a support fund for fattening, and the creation of Comprehensive Meat Production Centers, benefiting ranchers in Durango, Coahuila, and Sonora.
“Today I announce a total investment of almost 700 million pesos here in Durango to support the production of the best quality meat,” stated the president, highlighting that this effort seeks to strengthen the domestic market without neglecting exports, especially after the closure of the U.S. border to live cattle due to the screwworm detected in southern Mexico.
Within the framework of her first year in office and under a new model of accountability in the field, Sheinbaum reported that in Durango more than 830,000 people directly receive some form of support from the Programs for Wellbeing, with an annual investment of 14.299 billion pesos. These include pensions for seniors and people with disabilities, Benito Juárez scholarships, Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro, Sembrando Vida, Producción para el Bienestar, Precios de Garantía, and free fertilizers, among others.
The president also highlighted the launch of new programs such as the Women’s Wellbeing Pension, which will benefit more than 44,000 women in Durango, and the Rita Cetina scholarship, granted to over 74,000 secondary school students. She further announced that the Health House-to-House program will provide care to all seniors and people with disabilities in the state.
In terms of infrastructure, Sheinbaum announced the construction of the San Ignacio–Tayoltita highway, seven artisanal roads in Mezquital, the repaving of federal highways, the construction of more than 40,000 homes through Conavi and Infonavit, the Guadalupe Victoria water treatment plant, the Tunal II Dam, as well as new high schools and a campus of the Rosario Castellanos National University (UNRC).
Governor of Durango, Esteban Alejandro Villegas Villarreal, reaffirmed his commitment to work in coordination with the Federal Government to consolidate Plan México and expressed his support for President Claudia Sheinbaum in favor of the people of Durango.
