President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, inaugurated a Women’s LIBRE Center in Calakmul, Campeche, a space that provides free legal, psychological, and social services, as well as support for economic empowerment, with the goal of ensuring that women fully exercise their right to freedom.

During the event, Sheinbaum emphasized that the purpose of these centers is for every woman to decide for herself and exercise her rights without conditions. “Women have the full freedom to decide for ourselves what we want. We love our families, our children, and our husbands, but we have the right to be free,” she stressed, noting that the goal is to establish a LIBRE Center in every municipality in the country.

The president also highlighted the reform to Article 18 of the Law on the National Shield, Flag, and Anthem, which recognizes women who have transformed the nation’s history. She added that her administration is promoting initiatives such as the Women’s Rights Charter and the National Network of Weavers of the Nation, aimed at fostering respect and strengthening mutual protection among Mexican women.

During her visit to Calakmul, the president also signed an agreement with the governments of Guatemala and Belize to create the Biocultural Corridor of the Great Maya Forest, which will protect 5.7 million hectares in the region. This commitment, she noted, reflects her administration’s comprehensive vision for equality and sustainability.

Women who provide services at the Center highlighted the positive impact of this initiative on more than 80 communities in the municipality. Campeche Governor Layda Sansores San Román reported that 400 women have already been assisted, while authorities and specialists agreed that these free services strengthen violence prevention and contribute to building a more just society.
