The Government of Mexico, through the Institute to Return Stolen Goods to the People (Indep), announced that 40,951,471 pesos obtained from the first online auction of assets recovered from corruption will be allocated to the Justice Plan for the Amuzgo People in Guerrero and Oaxaca, with a specific focus on improving health services in these communities.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo explained that the funds will be directed through a joint effort with Amuzgo communities to identify their needs and collectively decide investment priorities. She stressed that, in this case, the resources will strengthen health infrastructure and services, responding to one of the most urgent demands in the region.
During the “People’s Morning Conference,” Sheinbaum emphasized that the Justice Plans aim to directly and participatively address the needs of historically marginalized peoples and communities. She pointed out that the investment will focus on improving Health Centers not only in the Amuzgo area but also as part of a broader national strategy.
Indep Director Mónica Fernández Balboa detailed that this first auction offered 145,657 assets, including 145,429 movable goods—of which 107,049 were sold—218 properties, with 16 sales finalized, and 10 financial assets, one of which was sold. The auction recorded 15,218 registrations and 867 active participants, achieving a record collection compared to previous auctions, which ranged between 5 and 7 million pesos.
Fernández Balboa also announced that online auctions will continue, hammer auctions will be reinstated, and as of August 9, direct-sale items will be available on the official platform subastas.indep.gob.mx, with prices ranging from one peso to 5,000 pesos. She advised the public to make purchases exclusively through the official system to avoid fraud or intermediaries.
