The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Culture, has announced the eight semifinalists from the Eastern United States region who will compete in Phase 3 of the binational contest Mexico Sings for Peace and Against Addiction. The grand finale will be held on October 5 at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris in Mexico City.
The semifinal for this region will take place on August 17 and will be broadcast on public media from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In total, six regional semifinals will be held across Mexico and the United States, culminating in a final gala in the country’s capital. Contestants receive technical support from producer Francisco Javier Ramírez at DLS Studios in Chicago.
The semifinalists from the Eastern U.S. region are:
- Alex Moreno (Contemporary Mexican music)
- Blue Malboro (Hip hop)
- José Carlos Díaz (Bolero)
- Donato Alfredo Mendoza Vargas (Mariachi)
- Miroslava (Pop-ballad)
- Stephanie (Corrido tumbado)
- Mercedes Gala (Pop-ballad)
- Two In Love (Ranchera)
- Daya Dorado (Tex-Mex country)

During her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the contest is part of a broader strategy to promote cultural narratives that reject violence and strengthen the bond between the Mexican migrant community and their home country. “We want them to feel that the Government of Mexico is always with them,” she stated.
Minister of Culture Claudia Curiel de Icaza noted that the finalists will be brought from their hometowns to Mexico City for live performances. Broadcasts of the competition will continue every Sunday until October 5, when the national grand finale will take place.
