President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated the IMSS Bienestar Women’s Oncology Hospital in Mexico City, a medical facility that will provide free care to nearly 500,000 women each year through the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Care Model.

The new hospital, located in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, will offer services for prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and patient support, with the goal of reducing waiting times and improving oncological care across the country.

During a tour of the facilities, the president highlighted that the model will allow treatment to begin within a maximum of 30 days after diagnosis, a measure expected to save lives and eventually be replicated in all states of the country.

The Women’s Oncology Hospital required a total investment of 221 million pesos, of which 108 million were allocated to construction and 113 million to medical equipment. The facility includes AI-assisted mammography units, specialized operating rooms, chemotherapy areas, and advanced diagnostic technology.

Federal authorities noted that this medical center is part of the national strategy to strengthen care for diseases affecting women, while also promoting technological innovation within Mexico’s public healthcare system.
