From San Andrés Cholula, Puebla, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo condemned recent immigration raids in Los Angeles, California, where 35 Mexican nationals were detained. She emphasized that these individuals have the full support of her administration and are receiving consular assistance to ensure their human rights are respected.
“Mexican men and women living in the United States are not criminals. They are honest people seeking a better life. They have the full solidarity of their government,” Sheinbaum stated. She instructed Foreign Affairs Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente to provide immediate assistance through the Mexican consular network.
During the inauguration of the new Pediatric Cardiology and Oncology Towers at the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital for Children in Puebla, Sheinbaum reiterated her firm opposition to the use of violence as a method of immigration enforcement. She called for a comprehensive migration reform rooted in dignity and bilateral dialogue. “Raids and violence will not solve this issue,” she asserted.
The president also highlighted the significance of the new medical facilities, built with an investment of 915 million pesos. The towers will dramatically expand third-level pediatric care for more than 1.5 million children, featuring 142 inpatient beds, 145 outpatient beds, 52 consulting rooms, and seven operating rooms. The number of cardiac and oncology consultations and procedures is expected to double, according to IMSS-Bienestar authorities.
Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier called the initiative a clear example of Mexican Humanism, praising the federal government’s commitment to protecting children’s health and lives. The president was accompanied by federal cabinet members, local officials, and healthcare leaders who expressed their full support for improving pediatric medical services across the country.
