Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo introduced and congratulated the four winners of the contest “Represent Mexico at the World Cup Opening Ceremony,” who will attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 as recognition for their dedication, discipline, and passion for soccer.

The selected participants were Yolett Cervantes Cuaquehua, from Tlaquilpa, Veracruz, who received ticket number 0001 presented by the President; Brianna Ameli Medina Cortez, from Iztapalapa, Mexico City, who obtained a ticket courtesy of the Mexico City Government; as well as Karla Itzel Peña Vilchis and Daira Yaretzi Díaz García, who will attend matches in Guadalajara and Monterrey, respectively, with support from the Ministry of Tourism.

During the morning conference “Las mañaneras del pueblo,” Sheinbaum emphasized that the young women represent the talent, perseverance, and love of sports shared by thousands of Mexican girls and women. She also noted that they will represent not only an institution or authority, but the entire nation at one of the world’s most important sporting events.

Mexico City Head of Government Clara Brugada Molina highlighted the importance of promoting women’s participation in sports, while international referee Katia Itzel García, professional soccer player Charlyn Corral, and sports journalist Gabriela Fernández de Lara praised the winners’ talent and the positive impact of initiatives that help increase the visibility of women’s soccer.

Meanwhile, CONADE Director General Rommel Pacheco Marrufo reported that the finalists were selected from more than 1,000 video submissions. He also noted that more than 1.2 million children and young people participated in the Mundial Social tournaments organized by the Mexican government, competing in more than 96,000 teams across the country.
