President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that the 520 tickets allocated to the Government of Mexico for the 2026 FIFA World Cup were awarded to the winners of the Social World Cup tournaments and activities, allowing children, young people, and older adults the opportunity to attend matches during the tournament.

During the “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo” press conference, the president explained that, unlike practices carried out by previous administrations, it was decided that no tickets would be assigned to public officials. “The tickets belong to the people, not to government officials,” she said, noting that the passes were distributed among participants in the various competitions and activities organized as part of the Social World Cup.

Gabriela Cuevas Barron, coordinator of the Federal Government’s efforts for the 2026 World Cup, detailed that 88 tickets were assigned to the Higher Education School Cup; 19 to participants in the Ministry of Culture’s Cascarita Original program; 86 to the Ministry of Health’s soccer tournament; 102 to tournaments organized by the IMSS; 25 to the Secihti FutBotMX Cup; and 200 to young participants in the IMJUVE Community Murals Program.

As part of this strategy, Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez highlighted the construction and rehabilitation of 4,150 sports fields with the participation of various federal agencies and state governments. In addition, 6,004 community murals were created as part of the social integration initiatives linked to the Social World Cup.

The president stated that the goal is for the activities promoted through the Social World Cup to continue throughout the administration, encouraging sports participation and creating opportunities for children and young people to enter professional soccer through talent identification and athletic development programs.
