President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo signed the Agreement for the Promotion of the Mexican Steel Industry as part of “Plan México,” with the aim of strengthening domestic production and promoting the use of steel manufactured in the country in government projects.

During her participation in “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo,” the president emphasized that the agreement seeks to ensure that the steel purchased by the Government of Mexico is of national origin, which will help reinforce supply chains and the domestic market.

The agreement, involving 19 public institutions and three business chambers, is structured around three pillars: public procurement, industrial policy, and financing, aimed at driving economic growth, industrialization, and job creation.

Federal authorities detailed that the private sector committed to ensuring quality, supply, timely deliveries, and competitive prices, as well as promoting the use of domestic steel in public infrastructure projects.

It was also highlighted that this effort will help meet the demand for steel in strategic projects across the country, such as highways, bridges, schools, sports centers, and passenger rail systems, consolidating a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the national economy.
