During her accountability tour in Jalisco, President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced the recovery of the Mexico City–Guadalajara passenger train as part of the more than 3,000 kilometers of rail lines to be built in the “Second Floor” of the Fourth Transformation. She emphasized that this project is part of the northern train network, which already includes the Mexico–Querétaro, Querétaro–Irapuato, Irapuato–León, and León–Guadalajara segments.

At the event, held alongside Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro and members of the federal cabinet, the president also announced that by 2026 the University of Guadalajara will receive its full budget for the benefit of students and faculty. She added that spaces in upper secondary education will increase with new high schools in El Salto, Lagos de Moreno, Tonalá, and Ayotlán, and that the establishment of a campus of the Universidad Rosario Castellanos is under consideration.

Sheinbaum reported that in Jalisco, 1,881,435 people are recipients of the Welfare Programs, representing a social investment of 49.317 billion pesos in 2025. These include the Pension for the Welfare of Older Adults, Youth Building the Future, Benito Juárez scholarships, and supports from Producción para el Bienestar, Fertilizantes Gratuitos, and Sembrando Vida. New programs are also being implemented, such as the Pensión Mujeres Bienestar, the Rita Cetina scholarship, and Salud Casa por Casa.

The president also announced strategic infrastructure and public service projects for the state, including the resurfacing of all federal highways, construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge to connect Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, cleanup of the Lerma-Santiago River, the possible construction of the Chapala-Guadalajara aqueduct, and support for Guadalajara’s Light Rail. Additionally, 97 Child Education and Care Centers will be built, along with one LIBRE Center for women in each municipality.

In terms of housing, 68,111 new homes will be built, and abandoned ones will be recovered. More than 500,000 families will benefit from reductions and freezes on Infonavit and Fovissste loans. With these actions, Sheinbaum reaffirmed that her government is working for regional equity and the well-being of the population.
