The Government of Mexico, in coordination with the Government of the State of Tlaxcala, announced the construction of an Economic Development Hub for Wellbeing (PODECOBI) in the municipality of Huamantla, with an investment of 540 million dollars that will create up to 6,000 jobs. The project, set to be completed by February 28, 2026, will be one of the most strategic initiatives of the Plan Mexico Advances.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that this plan seeks to strengthen national production, boost the domestic market, and guarantee Shared Prosperity. She explained that the Development Hubs form part of a comprehensive planning vision and are supported by the campaign Made in Mexico is Better Made, with the aim of consolidating well-paid jobs and communities with access to housing, services, schools, and public transportation.

Minister of Economy Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon detailed that the Huamantla Development Hub spans 53 hectares and already has committed investments from Mexican, German, and U.S. companies, including Knipping Automotive, Servicios Integrados y Administración de Alta Gerencia, and Comercializadora Ragón. Ebrard noted that this project is the most advanced among the 15 hubs announced nationwide. He also informed that on August 28 the Federal Official Gazette published the decree temporarily suspending finished footwear imports to boost the national industry.

For her part, Tlaxcala Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros stated that the hub will especially benefit historically underserved municipalities, driving agribusiness, cultural tourism, and educational partnerships. She also announced the construction of a Child Education and Care Center (CECI) to support working mothers and highlighted that six letters of intent for purchase agreements are already in the formalization stage.

Hugo Ruiz Blázquez, General Director for North America at Knipping Automotive, thanked President Sheinbaum for her vision and reiterated the private sector’s trust in the project. “We trust that these efforts will continue driving growth and prosperity for the industry and for Tlaxcalan families,” he said. With this investment, Tlaxcala positions itself as a key hub in the country’s economic and productive development strategy.
