From La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the inauguration of a new hemodynamics room at the IMSS Bienestar Specialty Hospital “Juan María de Salvatierra” and announced an additional investment of 300 million pesos to strengthen healthcare services in the state.

The president emphasized that health is a right and must not be limited by budget constraints. “When it comes to the people’s health, there must be no shortage of resources,” she stated. The new hemodynamics room, with an investment of 30.4 million pesos, will allow for more effective treatment of heart attacks and cardiac diseases and is part of a nationwide goal to install these services across the country.

Among the actions announced for Baja California Sur are the rehabilitation of the Transpeninsular Highway, also known as Benito Juárez García; the construction of El Novillo Dam; and the purchase of buses for the new public transportation system—all aimed at improving essential services for the population.

Alejandro Svarch Pérez, Director of IMSS Bienestar, explained that the additional 300 million pesos will allow for the full operation of 14 operating rooms, installation of a new CT scanner, acquisition of five mobile medical units, construction of a new Expanded Services Health Center (CESSA) in Vizcaíno, and reinforcement of primary care in San José del Cabo. Another hemodynamics room will also be built at the General Hospital of Santa Rosalía, in the Mulegé municipality.

Health Secretary David Kershenobich highlighted that these facilities are part of a universal care model that serves all patients regardless of their insurance status. Meanwhile, Baja California Sur Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío expressed his full support for the president, affirming the state’s commitment to dignified and accessible healthcare.
