Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has instructed the National Security Cabinet to investigate the recent events that occurred along the country’s southern border with Guatemala, specifically in the state of Chiapas. She confirmed that, so far, no injuries have been reported among Mexican security personnel.
During her daily morning press briefing, known as “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo”, Sheinbaum addressed a direct question about the situation at the southern border, assuring the public that authorities are closely monitoring and investigating the incident.
“They are looking into it, and what happened there is not acceptable. Tomorrow, if you’d like, we’ll provide all the information, and the Secretary of Security will speak on it,” the president stated.
While no further details have been released at this time, Sheinbaum reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to transparency and to ensuring the safety and integrity of Mexican forces deployed along the border region.
Recent weeks have seen increased attention on the southern border, prompting the Mexican government to maintain strong interagency coordination aimed at clarifying the events and reinforcing security efforts in the area.
