Las Margaritas, Chiapas – President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asserted that Mexico is set to become the world’s most democratic nation, as, for the first time in its history, citizens will elect judges, magistrates, and justices of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) on June 1.

«The election of the Judiciary is a historic step. In Mexico, previously, only a few decided on judges and justices; now, the people will have the final say. ‘With the people, everything; without the people, nothing,'» emphasized Sheinbaum.

From Las Margaritas, Chiapas, the president also highlighted the impact of the Welfare Programs, which she described as the hallmark of the Fourth Transformation and a global example of how public resources should be allocated to those who need them most.

Strengthening Social Support and Health Services

Sheinbaum reiterated that the programs initiated during former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration are not only being maintained but also strengthened with new initiatives such as:

  • Pensión Mujeres Bienestar for women aged 60 to 64.
  • Beca Rita Cetina Gutiérrez for secondary school students.
  • Programa Salud Casa por Casa, which will provide medical attention to the elderly and people with disabilities, with access to medications through the Farmacias del Bienestar.

The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, reported that 77,000 people in Las Margaritas already receive some of these supports, solidifying welfare as a constitutional right.

Mexico: A Cultural Powerhouse and Sovereign Nation

Sheinbaum emphasized that the Government of Mexico is grounded in the cultural richness of indigenous peoples, who have endured throughout history and represent national identity. «Mexico is a cultural powerhouse, and we will always defend our sovereignty and independence,» she affirmed.

Additionally, she announced a joint plan with Chiapas Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar to improve hospitals, health centers, roads, and pathways, as well as the construction of high schools and universities.
