Guadalupe, Zacatecas — President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo launched three major initiatives to improve the wellbeing of the people of Zacatecas: the construction of a new IMSS Regional Hospital in Guadalupe, the rollout of the «Housing for Wellbeing» program with 20,000 new homes, and increased support for bean production to achieve food self-sufficiency.

During her visit to Guadalupe, Sheinbaum laid the first stone for the housing project, which will include 12,000 homes built by CONAVI and another 8,000 by INFONAVIT in collaboration with state and municipal governments. She also announced the beginning of construction of the new IMSS Regional Hospital, which will benefit more than 300,000 people and be built by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA).

In the agricultural sector, the president outlined plans to boost bean production to 300,000 tons. The strategy includes improved seed quality, the reactivation of a local processing plant, a guaranteed purchase price of 27 pesos per kilo, and the sale of beans through “Bienestar Stores,” as part of the broader Mexico Plan for food sovereignty.

The new IMSS hospital will cover 42,000 square meters, featuring 216 beds, 47 specialty consultation rooms, operating rooms, specialized clinics, and a linear accelerator—making it the first public infrastructure of its kind in the state. The project will be carried out by SEDENA under a collaboration agreement with IMSS, according to Institute Director Zoé Robledo.

Governor David Monreal Ávila thanked the president for her strong support for Zacatecas, particularly in areas of security, healthcare, housing, and agriculture. The event was also attended by federal cabinet members including Edna Elena Vega (SEDATU), David Kershenobich (Health), Rodrigo Chávez (CONAVI), Jabnely Maldonado (FOVISSSTE), and local authorities.
