Before a packed Zócalo, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized the strength and unity of the Mexican people in the nation’s transformation. «We have demonstrated that the people of Mexico are formidable and that together we achieve more and reach further,» she stated, underscoring the importance of national sovereignty and social welfare.

Respectful Relations with the United States
Sheinbaum highlighted that relations with the United States have been characterized by respect and dialogue, leading to the non-application of reciprocal tariffs announced by the U.S. government, thanks to provisions in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). «We are optimistic because, according to the treaty, tariffs should not be imposed between our nations,» she explained.

Advancements in Security
Regarding security, the President reported that the National Strategy has led to a 15% reduction in intentional homicides between October 2024 and February 2025. She also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to combating fentanyl consumption, with operations that have reduced the drug’s border crossing by 50%. Simultaneously, she called on the United States to halt arms trafficking into Mexico.

Economic Strategy Pillars
Sheinbaum presented the pillars of her economic strategy, which include strengthening the domestic market through minimum wage increases, achieving self-sufficiency in food and energy, promoting public investment with the construction of trains and infrastructure projects, and bolstering Welfare Programs. Notable among these are pensions for seniors, student scholarships, and a new support program for women aged 60 to 64.

She concluded by reaffirming her commitment to the nation, ensuring that her government will continue to prioritize the well-being of the population. «Our strength is the people; our purpose is the well-being of the people. Rest assured that your president, with resolve and heart, will never betray you,» she concluded.
