On June 1, Mexican citizens will participate in an unprecedented election to renew 881 positions within the Judiciary, including justices of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), magistrates of the Electoral Tribunal, district judges, and members of the newly established Judicial Discipline Tribunal.
During the morning conference «Las Mañaneras del Pueblo,» President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized the significance of this process, noting that it represents a structural change in the country’s justice system. «We are all, from the ground up, transforming the Judiciary,» she stated, highlighting the creation of the Judicial Discipline Tribunal, which will independently evaluate the performance of judges, magistrates, and justices.
Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez reported that the National Electoral Institute (INE) will set up 84,202 polling stations nationwide to ensure the participation of over 100 million voters. At the polls, citizens will receive six color-coded ballots corresponding to the position being elected:
- Purple: Justices of the SCJN.
- Blue: Magistrates of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF).
- Turquoise: Magistrates of the Judicial Discipline Tribunal.
- Orange: Magistrates of the Regional Chambers of the TEPJF.

- Yellow: District Judges.
Additionally, in 19 states, local judges will also be elected, consolidating a transformative judicial process.
Each ballot will have four sections: title of the position, list of candidates separated by gender, identification number for each candidate, and the initials of the nominating authority. Voters will indicate their choice by writing the corresponding number in the designated boxes at the top of the ballot.
The electoral roll comprises 100,408,569 citizens, who are encouraged to inform themselves about the candidates to make informed decisions in this historic judicial renewal process.
