Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the Programs for Well-being represent an unprecedented investment of 850 billion pesos for 2025, directly benefiting 30 million Mexican families. This public policy has contributed to one of the most significant poverty reductions in the last four decades, according to World Bank data.

During her morning press conference, Sheinbaum announced that 9.5 million people exited poverty between 2018 and 2023 as a result of expanded social programs, increases in the minimum wage, and labor reforms undertaken during the administration of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. “It’s the largest reduction in 40 years,” she said.

She added that social investment will continue to grow: in 2026, it is projected to reach one trillion pesos to expand coverage and deepen the benefits. New constitutionally backed programs include Well-being Pension for Women, Rita Cetina Gutiérrez Scholarship, and Health House to House, all of which reinforce the comprehensive strategy for social justice.

Welfare Secretary Ariadna Montiel Reyes reported that 8.7 million beneficiaries have already received their May–June payments. From May 20 to 30, support will be delivered to the remaining recipients. Additionally, 14,312 assemblies have been held in Indigenous and Afro-Mexican communities, with the participation of more than 306,000 people, to allocate resources from the Social Infrastructure Contributions Fund.

In response to natural disasters, 301,000 aid packages have been distributed to victims of Hurricane Otis, with an investment of 15.275 billion pesos. Another 6.169 billion pesos were allocated to assist over 155,000 people in Guerrero and Oaxaca affected by Hurricane John.

In labor, Labor Secretary Marath Baruch Bolaños stated that the Youth Building the Future program has benefited more than 3.1 million young people aged 18 to 29, 70% of whom have secured employment. The accumulated investment amounts to 139 billion pesos, and for 2025, 24.205 billion pesos are allocated, with registration opening on June 2.

In education, National Scholarship Coordinator Julio César León Trujillo detailed that the “Benito Juárez García,” “Youth Writing the Future,” and Rita Cetina Gutiérrez scholarships support 13.1 million students, with a bimonthly investment of 23.974 billion pesos.

Additionally, the Our School program received a 25 billion peso allocation this year, benefiting 74,100 schools and 8.1 million students. Nearly 70,000 School Committees have been formed, composed of parents, teachers, and students.

In health, IMSS Bienestar head Alejandro Svarch Pérez reported that the Our Clinic program has an investment of 4.707 billion pesos for Health Centers, which will receive between 400,000 and 1.2 million pesos depending on the level of care.

President Sheinbaum concluded by reaffirming that the Programs for Well-being not only change lives but also transform the national economy by boosting consumption, reducing inequality, and advancing an inclusive development model.
