President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has appointed Rogelio Ramírez de la O as Economic Advisor for International Affairs, focusing particularly on the bilateral relationship with the United States. Additionally, she announced that, effective March 8, Edgar Amador Zamora will assume the role of Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).
In a message shared on her social media platforms, President Sheinbaum highlighted the strength of the Mexican economy and the capability of the Finance Ministry’s team. «We have a great team at the Ministry of Finance, so Mexico has a very strong economy and excellent collaborators. We will always do very well,» she stated.
Edgar Amador Zamora: New Head of SHCP
Edgar Amador Zamora, the newly appointed head of the SHCP, is an economist from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and holds a master’s degree from El Colegio de México. He has held positions in financial institutions, the Bank of Mexico, and has worked as an advisor in various organizations. Prior to this appointment, he served as Undersecretary of Finance.
Rogelio Ramírez de la O’s Transition
Rogelio Ramírez de la O, who held the position of Finance Secretary until this change, expressed that being part of the cabinet of Mexico’s first female president was an honor and noted that his departure is due to family commitments abroad. «I did it with dedication and the best of my will for as long as I could,» he detailed.
Commitment to Macroeconomic Stability
In his first message as Finance Secretary, Edgar Amador Zamora reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to macroeconomic and financial stability, ensuring that the guidelines established in the 2025 Fiscal Package will be maintained. «We are committed to macroeconomic, financial, and monetary stability, so that the country’s economy grows on solid foundations and the objectives of the Fourth Transformation are met under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum,» he expressed.
