During a visit to Cuauhtémoc, Colima, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirmed Mexico’s sovereignty and commitment to dignity and respect on the international stage. At the delivery of Welfare Programs, she emphasized that Mexico is a nation respected worldwide.​

«Mexico is a great country of brave men and women; we are a free, independent, and sovereign nation, and we are respected everywhere in the world. I’ve always said: cooperation and coordination, yes; subordination, never,» she stated.​

Sheinbaum highlighted Mexico’s cultural and historical richness, assuring that her administration will continue working for the people, protecting sovereignty and social justice.​

Boosting Infrastructure in Colima: Bridges, Roads, and Water Supply

During her tour of Colima, the president announced infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity and water access in the region. Plans include constructing and reconstructing bridges, developing an aqueduct, and dredging the Marabasco River with the installation of walls to prevent overflows.​

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, detailed that in April 2025, construction will begin on three new bridges:​

  • Libramiento Arco Sur (1.2 km) – 305 million pesos​
  • Libramiento Arco Norte (500 m) – 180 million pesos​
  • Puente Barrio V (700 m) – 200 million pesos​

Additionally, the bridges La Presa Trancas, Vado El Chical, and Las Tunas will be reconstructed.​

In 2026, strategic projects will commence, including:​

  • Main entrance to Manzanillo (800 m) – 300 million pesos​
  • La Flechita port area (700 m) – 200 million pesos​

Regarding roadways, the «Bachetón» program has addressed 30,000 square meters of surface and 367 km of the Federal Highway Network. The modernization of the Armería-Manzanillo highway will improve inter-municipal connections, with completion expected in 2026.
