In a bid to ensure access to adequate housing and enhance citizens’ well-being, the Mexican government has announced the commencement of constructing 160,336 homes between February and June 2025. This initiative is part of the National Housing for Well-being Program. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the program is progressing successfully, fulfilling her administration’s commitment to prioritize housing access for those most in need.

Program Kick-off in Baja California Sur

The president recalled that during her campaign, she promised the project would begin in Baja California Sur, specifically in Los Cabos, due to the substandard housing conditions many tourism sector workers endure. «We pledged to start this program here because it’s distressing to see vast tourist developments alongside workers living in inadequate conditions,» she stated.

Via a morning conference link, President Sheinbaum supervised progress alongside the governors of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío; Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño; and Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena.
