As part of the Mexico Plan, Grupo Modelo announced a historic investment of $3.6 billion USD for the 2025–2027 period, aimed at modernizing its breweries, strengthening the circular economy, improving distribution stores, and promoting positive experiences for the Mexican people. The announcement was made by the Government of Mexico during a press conference led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

The president emphasized that this investment proves the Sustainable Development with Wellbeing model is delivering real results. She noted that Mexico has a strong economy, popular support, and incentives for private investment, allowing for job creation and social welfare improvements under the principle of “Shared Prosperity: for the good of all, the poor come first.”

Raúl Escalante, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Grupo Modelo, outlined that the plan focuses on five strategic pillars: modernization of breweries in Zacatecas, Mexico City, Tuxtepec, and Hunucmá; promotion of returnable packaging and recycling; technological transformation of 300,000 points of sale; strengthening local supply chains; and sponsorship of sports and cultural events, including the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by donating 20 million cubic meters of water to the National Water Commission (Conagua), as part of the National Agreement for the Human Right to Water. Additionally, Grupo Modelo was the first company to join the relaunch of the “Made in Mexico” campaign and has leveraged infrastructure projects like the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (FIT) to enhance its export logistics.

Grupo Modelo represents 1% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and its value chain spans from agriculture to retail. President Sheinbaum recalled her past collaboration with the company on projects such as the COVID-19 hospital La Pastora and the use of electric trucks in Mexico City, as part of an integrated development policy with a forward-looking vision.
