President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated the IMSS Bienestar General Hospital in Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, a project that required an investment of over 500 million pesos and will benefit more than 200,000 residents in the region. During the event, the president also announced the upcoming construction of a new hospital in Ciudad Valles as part of the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services in the state.

The new Rioverde hospital features 128 beds, an emergency area, two operating rooms, neonatal intensive care units, and specialty services in obstetric surgery, internal medicine, general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, traumatology and orthopedics, urology, psychiatry, dermatology, ophthalmology, and geriatrics. It also includes the region’s first public MRI and CT scanners, a hemodynamics room, and a state-of-the-art laboratory.

Sheinbaum highlighted that an additional 200 million pesos will be allocated this year to IMSS Bienestar in San Luis Potosí to ensure all operating rooms are fully functional and health centers and hospitals are properly equipped. She stressed that these actions reflect a model of governance that prioritizes the well-being of the people over private interests.

Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona described the hospital as a symbol of life, dignity, and justice for thousands of residents who will now have their right to healthcare assured. IMSS Bienestar Director General Alejandro Svarch Pérez emphasized that this facility is part of a broader network modernizing and expanding hospital infrastructure throughout the state.

The president also reiterated the government’s commitment to regional development through infrastructure projects such as the modernization of the Ciudad Valles-Tampico highway, the Tamazunchale-Huejutla highway, and the Tamuín Airport, whose construction is set to begin next year.
