President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced an investment of 315.331 billion pesos for the National Highway Infrastructure Program, aimed at improving national connectivity, creating jobs, and strengthening development through the construction, modernization, and rehabilitation of highways across the country.
During the morning press conference “Las Mañaneras del Pueblo,” the federal president stated that the strategy seeks to “build more infrastructure for the people, to improve people’s lives,” while advancing national connectivity and economic growth.
To date, the program has recorded 360 kilometers of completed highways, 4,500 kilometers of resurfacing through the MegaBachetón program, and the delivery of 78 completed bridges, in addition to progress on various infrastructure works in multiple states across the country.
Infrastructure, Communications and Transport Secretary Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina detailed that 113.347 billion pesos are allocated to the intervention of 2,485 kilometers of priority corridors, as well as 18.077 billion pesos for the construction and modernization of bridges in different regions.
It was also reported that reconstruction works will begin in April on highways and bridges affected by heavy rainfall in states such as Hidalgo, Veracruz, Puebla, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí, as part of a comprehensive plan to address damaged infrastructure and strengthen the national road network.
